Toilet Fit Checker

Check rough-in, side clearance, and front space before you buy. Use the exact dimensions from the toilet's official spec sheet whenever possible.

Measure from the finished wall. For rough-in, measure to the center of the floor flange or mounting bolts—not the baseboard or trim.

General code reference used for the space check: 15 in from toilet centerline to side obstructions and 21 in clear in front. Local codes and accessibility rules can differ.

How the fit check works

Rough-in: compares your measured rough-in with the toilet's required or nominal rough-in. A smaller rough-in is treated as a problem unless the manufacturer explicitly allows it.

Side space: compares the toilet centerline to each side obstruction with the 15-inch general IPC reference.

Front space: subtracts the toilet's installed wall-to-front projection from the distance to the nearest front obstruction, then compares the remaining space with the 21-inch general IPC reference.

Important: model-specific installation drawings control. Supply-stop location, base shape, skirted trapways, bidet-seat outlets, and door swing can still affect installation even when these checks pass.
